Broaden their horizons when it comes to role playing
games, and give them a taste of what it would be like to head out to work with
the Pin Shop. Kids love to enjoy role playing games as it gives them the
opportunity to explore what it means to grow up and what life as an adult might
be like. Kids love to enjoy keeping house and playing elements they already
know about - such as school or work - and giving them the chance to take
different roles in these activities means they can see what roles they may want
to take as they get older, all in a fun setting that can be enjoyed by children
on their own or groups of friends.
The Pin Shop is a large shop designed to allow kids to
set up selling anything they want to, to their legions of customers. The shop
is a well designed green wooden stall which looks great, whether you set it up
in the garden or keep it in the living room so kids can play all year round.
The shop is large enough for two or three children to play at once, taking on
all the different roles and switching round as and when they feel like it. The
stall features a clock, chalkboard and paper roll, which will allow children to
make what they want out of their shop. Perhaps they can use the paper roll to
make posters and leaflets for their shop, to advertise its presence, or even
just entertain themselves by writing and drawing.
The chalkboard is helpful for teaching kids how to draw
and write properly, recognising letters numbers and shapes which can be wiped
off easily if they don’t get it right first time. If they are more adept with
writing and drawing, maybe they would like to write up prices and items on the
chalkboard according to what they are selling that day - a really good way to
get them interested in simple maths. The clock feature is great for helping
kids to tell the time, and has a simple face that makes telling the time a
little clearer and less frustrating for those trying to learn for the first
time. Again, if they already know how, then the clock can be used to set up their
opening and closing hours, adding that bit more to their shop.
